The comedy is currently in its second season on the network, airing in the sweet spot after Game of Thrones on Sunday nights, which has helped it to double its ratings from last season’s finale and triple them from the series premiere last October.
The series follows two friends, Issa and Molly (played by Yvonne Orji) navigating the misadventures of dating and career in Los Angeles. It was co-created by Rae and former Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore.
HBO has also renewed Ballers, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, for a fourth season. “We’re thrilled that the summer lineup of Ballers and Insecure connected with our viewers out of the gate,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming, in Variety’s report. “We’re so proud to work with Dwayne, Issa and all of the amazing talent in both shows.”
