4 Things to Know Before Your Vegas Wedding

Each year, more than 80,000 couples say “I do” in Las Vegas and nearly 13 percent of licenses issued are for LGBT couples. With more than 10,000 ceremonies a month and 300 weddings per day, many would call it the wedding capital of the world. Throughout the city, there are dozens of fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities, so it’s easy to create the wedding of your dreams year-round.

The best thing about weddings in Vegas is the variety, which makes every ceremony unique and exciting. Whether you’re hoping to get hitched in a chapel or a banquet hall, planning a chic ceremony in Paris or on the canals of Venice, anything is possible in Vegas.

To help you plan a fabulous Vegas wedding, we spoke with renowned event planner Danny Fisk of Work the Room. He answered four questions from newly engaged couples and proved Vegas is the perfect place to tie the knot.

1. Is there a particular LGBT-friendly place for a same-sex ceremony?

Las Vegas is one of the most LGBT-friendly destinations in the United States. Many of the city’s venues, hotels and resorts appeal to same-sex wedding ceremonies. If you’re planning an over-the-top celebration, consider one of the city’s luxury properties. If you’re hoping for something more intimate, many chapels on and off the Strip are available to make your day special, and if you’re a culture vulture, you might consider the Smith Center for the Performing Arts or The Neon Museum

2. What’s the best thing about getting married in Las Vegas?

The range of venues, entertainment opportunities and accommodations make Las Vegas a one-of-a-kind wedding destination. Where else can you say “I do” in front of your family and friends, then sit front row at Planet Hollywood to watch Britney Spears the same day? Plus, Vegas offers unbeatable value all year long. With hotels and resorts competing for your business, it’s easy to find fantastic deals on venues and room blocks.

3. When’s the best time to get married in Vegas?

That depends on you! Las Vegas is a warm climate. Although its transitional seasons are usually moderate, summer in Vegas can be toasty, and winter can be a little cool. When choosing your venue, the time of year should be a key consideration. There are plenty of beautiful places that can accommodate your wedding ceremony and reception throughout the year, like Mandalay Bay, or the Frank Gehry-designed Keep Memory Alive Event Center. And, finding a fair ticket price is easy, so keep your eye on airline rates.

4. Are there outdoor activities I can recommend to my guests?

When visiting Las Vegas, all of the choices can be overwhelming, so it’s important to keep the wedding weekend structured for your guests. From window shopping at the Forums to touring the Hoover Dam, Vegas and the surrounding area is full of activities and fun. Whether your guests choose to relax by the pool or fly over the Grand Canyon with Maverick Helicopters, Las Vegas lives up to its reputation as the ultimate adult playground.

Follow these guidelines, and you’ll find that Las Vegas is the perfect destination to create a unique wedding experience! For more information on tying the knot in Vegas, go to VisitLasVegas.com
